My 3 bedroom penthouse at Kolea was listed with another realtor for over a year, and had less than 5 showings in that time. Once it was listed with Johnny McElree, the unit had dozens of showings resulting in a firm offer less than two months after listing which was negotiated into a cash sale. This was not a foreclosure or short sale. This was a "real" sale. It was not only the first sale over $2 million at Kolea since the start of the recession, but it set a new floor for Kolea properties. There is little doubt that Johnny's every day and all the time presence at Kolea helped result in so many showings, and there is little doubt that these many showings resulted in a sale.  Johnny went far above and beyond the normal scope of realtor activities in walking us through the myriad of details for selling Hawaiian real estate (note: it is much easier to buy Hawaiian real estate than it is to sell it!) Although Johnny had only been a realtor for a short length of time compared to the realtor with whom this property was originally listed, he was far more knowledgeable in every way, and was always most pleasant and professional to work with. I have listed two other properties with Johnny on the Big Island for precisely these reasons.

[I would like to express my satisfaction with the service that I was provided by BJ K. Melanson, an agent that was recommended through your Relocation Department to sell my condo in the Makaha Surfside, Hawaii.]

 

[I live in Seattle and finding a trust worthy agent that I could depend on was my main concern. Ms. Melanson provided me with excellent service by assisting me with resolving a lien that was placed on my unit.] This resolution was very challenging, but Ms. Melanson helped me to retain the services of an excellent Real Estate Attorney who handled the matter expeditiously and for a fraction of the normal attorney fees. The attorney was able to get the Association to lower the lien from $52,000 to $5,000!

 

Additionally, I had a car that was not running and needed it to be removed from the parking stall before selling the unit. BJ took care of the situation without charging me to do so.

 

Ms. Melanson marketed my property with much diligence and brought me an above asking price offer within 5 days of listing the property. Though my unit sold for a nominal fee and was located in a remote area of the island, BJ worked as if she was making a million dollar deal. She never lost touch with the common goal of selling the unit even though the transaction had multiple challenges. I truly am grateful to BJ Melanson and will refer her and Century 21 All Islands Relocation Department to my friends and family.
